Safety and connectivity features on the Chevrolet Trax
The Chevrolet Trax is a very reasonably priced, entry-level crossover that has city-friendly exterior dimensions and a roomy interior, the sweet spot every crossover aims for.
Apart from the perfect size, the Trax comes with a bundle of connectivity features and offers plenty of active safety features, scoring a perfect 5 stars out of 5 on the NHTSA scale. But before we get into that, let’s go over some of Trax’s most important stats.
It comes with a tried-and-true 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine that delivers 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque which are more than enough for Trax’s dimensions. With All-Wheel Drive just $1,500 away, most buyers will upgrade their SUVs to get all-weather confidence.
The Trax can be ordered in three different trim levels, the LS, LT, and Premier, each with its own advantages and spanning from reasonably priced to borderline luxurious.
Now let’s take a look at its connectivity features.
Even the LT, which is the model’s basic trim, comes with connectivity perks such as a 7.0-inch color touch as part of the car’s infotainment system, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus Bluetooth audio streaming. The LT adds the SiriusXM satellite radio to the list of standard features.
In terms of safety features, the base model comes equipped with a 10-airbag system, daytime running lamps, a rear-vision camera, the StabiliTrak electronic stability system, and halogen reflector headlamps. The LT also offers cruise control, plus LED taillamps and LED daytime running lamps.
The Premier bumps the safety features list way up with the addition of the Forward Collision Alert, the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, the Lane Departure Warning System, Side Blind Zone Alert, and Rear Park Assist. A list that would make most luxury crossovers jealous.
But the Trax doesn’t come with a luxury crossover price tag, on the contrary. It’s exceptionally low priced and still manages to offer many of the perks of premium-class SUVs. On the Premier trim, for example, future owners can expect to receive keyless open, a power sunroof, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and a state of the art 7-speaker Bose sound system.
