The 2022 Bolt EV – affordable, eco-friendly, cool
It's been half a decade since Chevrolet introduced the Bolt EV in its line-up, the company's first fully electric vehicle. The aim was to create an electric hatchback for an affordable price so it will appeal to the general public. The 2022 Bolt EV is the result of 5 years of constant improvements and is one of the best EVs on the market in terms of the price Vs delivered value ratio.
Revamped inside and out for the 2022 model year, the Bolt EV looks ready to convert even more prospective buyers away from gas-propelled city-friendly cars to electric vehicles. With a tantalizingly low price and an upscale look and feel, not to mention its ridiculously good performance on the road, the 2022 Bolt is bound to be a class favorite.
Before we talk about anything else, let’s look at its engine. The 2022 Bolt is propelled by an electric engine that gets its power from a 65-kWh battery that’s been placed underneath the car to help maximize cargo and passenger space. The engine can produce up to 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, phenomenally high figures for Bolt’s class and weight. A joy to drive, especially inside the city limits where it can glide in and out of traffic with ease, the Bolt EV has a maximum range of 259 miles, with fully charged batteries.
To do that, charge your 2022 Bolt EV to its maximum capacity, you'll need to plug it in for 9 hours, or 7 if you own a class-2 home charging port, a feature that GM will pay in full to have installed for some of its customers. The Bolt EV comes equipped with a dual-level charge cord that can be plugged into either a 120- or a 240-volt outlet. Better yet, you can visit one of many charging stations in the growing national network and within 30 minutes you would have added 95 miles to your range.
Even though it’s the smallest of the two Chevrolet electric vehicles, the Bolt EV offers the most cargo space – 16.6 cubic feet behind the second row of seats, that can balloon to 57 if you fold that down.
Its modern, almost futuristic-looking exterior is mirrored on the inside where a large 10.2-inch color touch dominates the dash. A dimension normally reserved for full-sized, luxury SUVs, the huge touch gives the Bolt EV an immediate high-tech look and feel. Standard features also include perks such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist, and the new interface Chevy Infotainment 3 system.
The most notable optional features are wireless charging, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and integrated navigation.
