The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – a powertrain for every need
The latest rendition of the legendary Chevrolet nameplate, the Silverado, comes with not one, not two, not three, not four, but five different engine options. They range from fuel-efficient to extra powerful so any prospective buyer is sure to find precisely what they need under the hood of a 2021 Silverado.
With 5 engines, tons of optional packages, and 8 trims to chose from, few Silverados will resemble each other. Chevrolet has given customers a chance to build their perfect truck with the 2021 Silverado 1500. All you need is access to experts that can help you sieve through all the options, and you can’t find more knowledgeable people in anything Chevy than our sales team here at O'Neill's Chevrolet Buick in Avon, Connecticut.
We’ve been selling Chevrolet trucks for decades now and what kept us in business in all that time is our commitment to our customers and the passion we share for great American cars.
Before you pay us a visit, though, let’s take a look at all five of Silverado’s engines.
1. The 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel
At 277 horsepower the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo can tow up to 9,500 pounds, due to the whopping 460 pound-feet of torque it can generate. It’s also an exceptionally efficient engine as it will deliver 23 miles per gallon inside the city and an impressive 33 miles per gallon on the highway. Great for fleet purchases and prospective buyers that often have long highway commutes to deal with, the 3.0-liter will get the job done and help you save big on gas money.
2. The 2.7-liter turbo inline-4
The quickest engine on the Silverado can propel the truck from zero to 60 miles per hour in about seven seconds. It comes with an 8-speed automatic and will generate 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. The best part is that speed doesn’t come at the expense of utility as the 2.7-liter inline-4 can also tow up to 9,600m pounds.
3. The 4.3-liter Ecotec3
The first of three Ecotec3 engines, and the powertrain that comes as standard on the WT (base) trim, is the 4.3-liter Ecotec3 V6. It can churn out 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque and tow up to 7,900 pounds making it the light-weight engine (if you can call it that) of the lot.
4. The 5.3-liter EcoTec3
One step up is the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 that will belt out 355horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It can be paired with either a 6 or 8-speed automatic transmission and will tow up to 11,100 pounds.
5. The 6.2-liter EcoTec3
The top of the range is a mighty V8 in the form of the 6.3-liter EcoTec3 that will deliver a whopping 420 horsepower plus 460 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a 10-speed automatic that’s enough power to tow up to 13,300 pounds which is more than enough for any job we can think of.
