Trim levels on the 2021 Buick Encore
Probably no other car class is as crowded as the crossover segment. With strife competition and its replacement, the Encore GX, already in production, the Buick Encore still enjoys huge popularity mainly because of its exceptional value for money and reliability.
Not to be confused with one of Encore’s trims, the Encore GX is a more high-end version of the Encore and it’s meant to replace it entirely. But so far the Encore seems to attract tons of buyers still, and for good reason. Today we’ll take a look at the two trims the 2021 Buick Encore comes in – the Encore Base, and the Encore Preferred.
The first thing worth mentioning is that both trims share the same powertrain, a tried-and-true 1.4 DOHC 4-cylinder engine that’s capable of producing 138 horsepower, more than enough for a car the size of the Encore.
The similarities between the two trims don’t end here as the Preferred comes with some additional features but mostly it’s a highly customizable Base model that gives prospective buyers access to tons of optional features they wouldn’t be able to order on the inferior trim.
But let’s take them one by one and begin with...
The 2021 Buick Encore Base
For under $25,000 future Encore Base owners can expect perks such as Buick’s latest Infotainment System with an 8-inch color touch, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, Bluetooth connectivity, a rear vision camera, signature LED daytime running lamps, LED accented tail lamps, both keyless open and start, the StabiliTrak® electronic stability system, 18-in. aluminum wheels with Technical Gray pockets, heated power outside mirrors, roof-mounted side rails, an active noise control system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls, front bucket seats, SiriusXM satellite radio trial subscription, and OnStar® and Buick Connected Services capability.
The 2021 Encore Base comes with standard front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available.
As for the Preferred, it does come with a few extras, so let’s find out which.
The 2021 Buick Encore Preferred
Including every feature under the Base model, the Preferred comes with added perks such as Buick’s QuietTuning Technology, plus both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. More importantly, however, the Preferred gives future owners access to a hefty list of optional features. That means that Preferred owners can fit their Encores with roof rack cross rails, a power moonroof, remote start, accessory carrier hitch, 18-in. five split-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with Midnight Silver finish, a 120-volt power outlet, all-weather cargo mat and floor mats, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone alert, or the Road Trip Package, Active Package, Buick Interior Protection Package, and Safety Package.
