The 2021 Chevrolet Spark – the little engine that could
The adorable five-door hatchback is closing in on its 25th year of continuous production. Wearing a tantalizingly low price tag and coming with Chevrolet’s stamp of approval, it’s hard to beat the 2021 Spark in terms of value for money.
In this article, we'll briefly go through Spark's trims. For full details and a test drive, you can always visit us at O'Neill's Chevrolet Buick in Avon, Connecticut.
Before we get into trim levels, though, it’s work making a few comments about the Spark’s exterior looks and engine.
Built for urban driving, the Spark sports sharp exterior lines and the general demeanor of a bullet. Making good use of every inch, the Spark offers 11,3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 27,2 behind the first row which are great numbers considering its petite dimensions.
Under the hood, all Spark trims come with the same tried-and-true powertrain, a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce 98 horsepower and 94 pound-feet of torque. For a car of Spark’s dimensions and weight, that’s plenty. The engine can be paired with either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission on all trims.
Speaking of which…
1. 2021 Spark LS – base trim
The base trim will set you back just under $14,000, a ridiculously low price for a new car. What do you get for that money? Well… 15-inch steel wheels, manual windows, mirrors and door locks, a 7-inch color touch, both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth audio connectivity, 2 USB ports, air conditioning, a four-speaker audio system, and OnStar emergency communications with an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot.
Exceptional value for money, just like we said. And we’re just getting started.
2. 2021 Spark 1LT
Under the 1LT trim, you get everything that comes with the LS plus some extra features such as 15-inch alloy wheels, power windows, mirrors, and door locks, audio and phone controls on the steering wheel, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and an upgraded six-speaker audio system.
If you ask us, the 1LT is the best value for money of all of Spark’s trims. Packed with features yet still very affordable it will make for a car that you can count on for years to come.
3. 2021 Spark Activ
One step up and you get the Spark Activ. It incorporates 1LT’s features to which it adds: unique 15-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, fog lights, heated front seats, simulated leather upholstery, roof rails, protective door plates, a custom grille, bumpers and black exterior accents, and a suspension with 0.4 inches more ground clearance.
4. 2021 Spark 2LT
Going a different route than the Activ trim, the 2LT comes with everything under the 1LT trim and adds push-button start, chrome door handles and trim, an upgraded driver information display, heated front seats, simulated leather seating surfaces, and rear parking sensors.
It also allows for the addition of the Driver Confidence package that will equip your Spark with Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Departure Warning.
