2020 Chevrolet Equinox Trim Levels
Far better looking than the old minivan but just as spacious and also oriented towards satisfying the needs of growing families, the crossover SUV attracts more buyers every day.
Some of the best crossover manufacturers are local US companies and Chevrolet sits at the front of the segment as it markets exceptional vehicles like the Equinox.
Designed to impress through its features, interior comfort, the value to cost it delivers, and the multitude of advanced safety standard features, the Equinox makes for a tempting option on the list of every crossover prospective buyer out there.
Produced in four different trim levels ranging from the safety-oriented L trim, Equinox’s base model, to the borderline luxurious Premier trim level, the car is able to cover a lot of the crossover market’s needs and wants.
The base powertrain is a capable 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 that will churn out 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Coupled with a 6-speed automatic, it’s great for urban driving
and will also hold its own on the open road if you’ll ever drive it on a highway.
The L trim is loaded with high-tech, active safety features, obviously to satisfy the prevalent safety need among crossover buyers. Every Equinox model comes equipped with Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, a Rear Vision Camera, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Standard features that wouldn’t have existed even on top-trim luxury sedans a few years back are now fitted onto the every Equinox model that rolls out the factory gate.
On top of safety, the L trim focuses heavily on connectivity. A 7.0-inch color touchscreen allows users to control the infotainment system that has features like Bluetooth connectivity, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, 2 USB data ports and an additional 2 USB ports for charging only, SiriusXM Internet Radio, plus both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
LED daytime Running Lamps plus keyless entry and ignition complete the list of standard features on the base model.
With all that delivered the L trim is anything but basic. It only gets better from here.
The LS trim
The LS is just a smidge more expensive because it doesn’t add many new features to the list, but rather it opens up the possibility of future owners adding optional elements on their brand-new Equinox. LS makes things like an 8-way power driver's seat with power lumbar control available, or the chrome and cargo packages, All-Wheel Drive, or a rear-seat infotainment system available. All of which can't be fitted on the L trim.
The LT trim
With the LT trim level, buyers will experience a significant jump in quality. It includes every feature of the L trim, to which it adds High-Intensity Discharge Lamps, the power driver's seat with lumbar control that's only optional on the LS trim and unavailable on the base model, a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen, and a three-month SiriusXM trial subscription period.
The best feature of the LT trim, though, is that it adds the option for a superior engine to be fitted on your Equinox. If the 1.5-liter base engine is good, the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 upgrade is even better. Producing a whopping 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and coupled with a responsive 9-speed automatic, it makes for a delightful experience to drive on the open road or inside the city limits.
The Premier trim
The Premier sits at the top of the range and adds perks like a hands-free power liftgate, the 360-degree parking camera, ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, auto dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic moonroof.
From the needs of safety-oriented buyers to those in the market for luxury options, the Equinox has a trim level for everyone.
